An important part of the new observations used for the INPOP08 fit isthe tracking data provided by the ESA space missions Mars Express andVenus Express (Morley 2006a, 2007a,b). These datasets are the first radio ranging data provided by ESA, and their acquisition and reduction process is described in Sect. 4.VEX observations provide important information on the Venus orbit. Itis especially of interest since this orbit is much less perturbed byasteroids than Mars and therefore has greater potential for preciseephemeris motion, fundamental physics testing and reference frameestablishment.
